This is a personal web page in every sense. It's where I intend to record my efforts in my main preoccupations - cycle racing, wine making and trying to get my garden tidy. Right now it is where I record my training and general diaries. It's not really a blog, just a sequential update of HTML, with a few pictures thrown in.
I came across a list of my old racing results early in 2007, when I was still 39, and was astonished to find that it was eleven years since I had last raced. I had always intended to start racing again, but hadn't realised how time had gone on. I rejoined Walsall Roads CC, and started putting in some serious miles to work and back. Then on the 12th of July, I came off my Holdsworth road bike on a gravel covered country lane, and broke my right collar bone in two places. With five weeks off work, and even longer off the bike, I realised that it wasn't going to be the best year to start racing again, so I worked to regain enough fitness to not have a hard time on club runs.
You know know how it is, you hit the big 4-0 and you have to start prooving to yourself that you are not over the hill. When most of your free time is spent disappearing over the horizon on a bicycle, the worry isn't of being 'over the hill', it's getting home again afterwards. No, the big 4-0 didn't worry me, but I did come to the conclusion that I'd better start doing something about getting back into racing before it became physically more difficult.
It's amazing what you can do with just a bit of HTML, a few pictures and frames. I'm not intending to go all Flash here, just to be clear and effective, without the bells and whistles. I've got better things to do with my time, like applying myself to my cycle racing.
